Attention California Residents

WARNING: This product can expose you to chemicals including lead and lead compounds, which are known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. For more information go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov.

This warning is provided by Sherle Wagner International to comply with the California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, commonly known as "Proposition 65." Many products sold in California are required by law to contain this warning.

What is Proposition 65?

Proposition 65 requires businesses to provide warnings to California residents about significant exposures to chemicals that may cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. These chemicals can be in the products that California residents purchase, in their homes or workplaces, or that are released into the environment. By requiring that this information be provided, Proposition 65 enables California residents to make informed decisions about their exposures to these chemicals.

Proposition 65 also prohibits California businesses from knowingly discharging significant amounts of listed chemicals into sources of drinking water.

Why does Sherle Wagner International include this warning with their products?

We are providing Prop 65 warnings to inform customers that specific products contain chemicals on the State of California’s Prop 65 list. Sherle Wagner Internationals’ products that contain the Prop 65 warning include components made with brass, which contains small but detectable amounts of lead—an element included on the Prop 65 chemical list. Brass is an integral material for many of Sherle Wagner Internationals’ products and has a long history of successful use in our plumbing products and applications.

Are Sherle Wagner Internationals’ products safe to use?

Even though a product may be found to contain a Proposition 65-listed chemical, it does not mean that use of the product will cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. Nor does it mean that a product is unsafe. All Sherle Wagner Internationals’ products meet or exceed the requirements of applicable industry standards for product performance and safety, as well as the federal Safe Drinking Water Act. We are confident there is no health hazard associated with any of Sherle Wagner Internationals’ products.

All of Sherle Wagner Internationals’ plumbing fittings are compliant with ASME A112.18.1/CSA B125.1 Plumbing Supply Fittings, which is the primary standard for plumbing fittings. Our plumbing fittings pass both mechanical and toxicity testing including evaluation in accordance with the test methods specified in NSF/ANSI 61 Drinking Water System Components – Health Effects and NSF/ANSI 372 Drinking Water System Components – Lead Content, which certifies that the product conforms to the lead content requirements for “lead free” plumbing as defined by the U.S. Safe Drinking Water Act.
